Ten years ago Grafs was already regarded as one of the best prospects on the continent. He averaged 13.8 points and 10.5 rebounds at the U18 European Championship Men in 1998 and posted similar numbers at the U19 World Championship one year later. Since then his performance at the highest international level was not very impressive and for the national team he was usually a back up center behind Kaspars Kambala, Kaspars Cipruss or Andris Biedrins. However last season for ASK Riga Grafs showed his ability to be an important part of the team defensive and offensive strategy. If the coaches and his teammates trust him, Raitis can deliver the goods. |
