The German NT started its run of success when Mithat Demirel joined the squad. Of course, Nowitzki was a huge factor but Demirel has been a great help running the point. The captain of Euroleague team Alba Berlin is now a very experienced player. Without the injured Steffen Hamann, he will have a lot of responsibility. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in quickness. He is excellent at setting the offense, controlling the rhythm and getting everyone involved even though he is not a real playmaker. On offense, he’s also valuable because of his shooting ability. He’s been a consistent three-point threat for Germany since joining the team. His main quality is a fierce competitive nature and he is a true fighter on the court. He will hustle until the final whistle. He wants to start a career in medicine when he finishes playing basketball.
