Steffen Hamann is the emotional engine of the German squad. His high energy level helps the 26 year-old to play his up tempo style on the offensively and be one of the best one-on-one stoppers at the defensive end. Even though he has struggled from time to time with his shooting he became Dirk Bauermann’s number one option at the point guard position. After starting the season with Fortitudo Bologna, Hamann returned to his hometown Bamberg where he helped to turn around a losing season. Playing for coach Bauermann`s club team since he arrived in Bamberg in 2001, Hamann has become one of the coaches favourites as the 1.95 m guard is the type of defensive minded player the coach loves. Hamann is physically strong, mentally tough and a great competitor.
