Georgia Outclass Luxembourg
21.08.2007

Georgia raced out to a 26-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and stormed to an 88-60 victory at Luxembourg to remain just one game behind Finland in EuroBasket Division B Group C.

Needing a success to keep pace with the Finns, who brushed aside Austria 87-63 in their game on Tuesday to improve to 5-0, the Georgians got 16 points apiece from Zaza Pachulia and Manuchar Markoishvili.

By half-time, the lead had ballooned to 50-26 and the remainder of the meeting was a victory procession as Georgia won for the fourth time in five games.

Georgia out-rebounded the hosts 30-19, Luxembourg struggled to compete, turning the ball over 24 times in the game.

They did finish with the night’s leading scorer in Martin Rajniak.

The 2.05m forward had 19 points and collected seven boards.

Next up for Georgia is a home game against Austria on Saturday in Tbilisi, while Luxembourg do not play again until August 29 in Gmunden against Austria.
