Career: Split (Croatia-A-1, 1993-98), Cibona Zagreb (Croatia-A-1, 1998-03), Efes Pilsen (Turkey-TBL, 2003-07)
Niksa Prkacin is a veteran of the National Team and the most experienced Croatian player. The 32-year-old has had lots of problems with back injuries in the last few years but when 100% healthy, he is one of the best power forwards in Europe. He is a left-hander with a massive body which helps to make him an excellent rebounder. Prkacin is from Dubrovnik where he began his sports career playing water polo. At the age of 14 he started to play basketball in Zadar, then in Split and, in 1998, he came to the Croatian modern powerhouse of Cibona where he was one of the most important players on the team. For the last four years, he has played for Turkish giant, Efes Pilsen. Niksa has played in each of the last five EuroBaskets so this trip to Spain will be his sixth top level European National Team competition and, according to him, the last. “After, I'm thinking about retiring. I'm too tired and my body really needs some rest in the summer”, said Prkacin. |
