PLAYER PROFILE

Career: BK Ventspils (Latvia-LBL, 1994-2003), Galatasaray (Turkey-D1, 2003-2004), Ural Great Perm (Russia-Superleague, 2004), Dynamo Moscow Region (Russia-Superleague, 2004-05), Lietuvos rytas Vilnius (Lithuania-Baltic & LKL, 2005-06), ASK Riga (Latvia-Baltic & LBL, 2006-07).

This year’s qualifying round was the fifth in which Sandis Buskevics has participated but sadly he has never played in EuroBasket.  A good substitute, he has always been a step to slow for the transition game and a little bit too scrappy for half-court basketball.  He has played for more than 10 years for his home team of BK Ventspils where he became one of the stars of the Latvian league. Playing abroad these past three years was a new challenge. After going to the FIBA Europe League Final Four with Ural-Great in 2004 and finishing third in the EuroCup Challenge in 2005 with Moscow Region, Buskevics got some experience in the Euroleague in 2005-06 with Lietuvos Rytas as a back-up point guard. During the qualifying round, he did not have a staring role but was a key player in some crucial games.
