Lithuania will not have versatile guard Ramunas Siskauskas at next year's EuroBasket in Poland after the CSKA Moscow star's decision to retire from the national team.

Siskauskas was a member of the Lithuania team that won the gold medal at the EuroBasket in Sweden five years ago, averaging more than 16 points per contest.

He just played in his third Olympics in Beijing where he and his teammates suffered a narrow defeat to Spain in the semi-finals before losing in the bronze medal game to Argentina.

"I'd made up my mind last year and results in Beijing did not affect my decision," said Siskauskas, who turns 30 on September 10.

"I made my decision and this is final.

"The summers in the national team are exhausting and it's time to retire. Young players will replace me."

Siskauskas averaged 11 points and four rebounds per game in Beijing.
