Career: Barreirense (Portugal-Liga TMN, 1999-2004) , Belenenses (Portugal-Liga TMN, 2004-06), Benfica Lisboa (Portugal-Liga UZO, 2006-07).

Minhava is relatively new to the national side. He became a critical part of the team only in the 2007 qualifying round. Tall for a point guard, the 1.97 m Lisbon native has good hands and is a nice shooter, averaging 10.5 ppg and shooting 38% from three-point range in the Portuguese league last season. He’s an excellent passer, leading the league in assists with 5.5 per contest, but he still needs to improve a bit on the defensive end of the floor. Minhava is a basketball junky as he combines studying at University with a professional basketball career and even managed to find time to coach a team of junior girls last season. Playing in this EuroBasket will be the peak of his young career, but if he plays up to his potential it’s nothing he can’t handle.
