Guido Grunheid

Career: Jena (Germany-Regionalliga, 1999-2001), Berlin (Germany-Bundesliga, 2001-05), Köln (Germany-Bundesliga, 2005-07).

His history in the German national team is quite short at just 25 years of age but Grünheid played his first minutes of FIBA competition in Japan at the World Championships. The 2005/06 season could also be called his first year as a consistent pro athlete. Coming from Alba Berlin, where he once decided a championship with a last minute three-pointer (2004), Grünheid’s game started to blossom under RheinEnergie Köln’s coach Sasa Obradovic. Now in his second year for the reigning German champion, the 2.06m forward established himself as a reliable role player. Grünheid is not a specialist in any part of the game, but he can hit a three ball as well as score in the post and wearing opponents down with his solid defense. Doing what ever is needed will be his credo for this EuroBasket.
