Andrea Bargnani would rather crack a smile.
But on Wednesday night during the Toronto Raptors' 108-103 victory at the Miami Heat, the Italy international cracked three teeth.
Bargnani was fouled by Alexander Johnson when going hard to the basket, got knocked off balance and fell with the side of his face hitting the hardwood.
He didn't get up immediately.
"I was conscious, but I was not able to see right," said Bargnani.
The blurred vision lasted for about 30 seconds.
Bargnani, who played for the Azzurri in Spain at EuroBasket 2007 last year, later said: "I feel a lot better now."
Raptors coach Sam Mitchell, who's wanted to see Bargnani play with much more physicality under the boards this season, admitted: "Any time a guy leaves his feet like that, and takes that kind of a hit and goes down hard, you have to be concerned.
"But it seems like he's okay. He's a little sore but we don't expect that he'll miss any time at all."
Italy coach Carlo Recalcati is to fly to America next week to meet with Bargnani, Golden State rookie Marco Belinelli and University of Southern California point guard Daniel Hackett to see if they will be available for national team duty this summer in EuroBasket 2009 qualifying games.
The Italians have been drawn in Group A with Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Finland.
