After collecting a bucket load of trophies and achievements with youth teams, Jankunas is trying to re-establish his name with the Lithuanian senior squad. Though he put up solid numbers in his first try at EuroBasket 2005 (15 minutes and 8.2 points per game), his role in the national team has nose-dived. In the summer of 2007, he barely saw any action at the EuroBasket (only five minutes of playing time in total) and he did not make it to Beijing last summer. He rebounded by averaging nearly 14 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes per game for Zalgiris in this season's Euroleague - numbers that Lithuania boss Butautas will definitely have taken note of as he considers which players are to have big roles in this year's team.
