Career: Paris SG (France-Pro A, 1997-98), Maurienne (France-Pro B, 1998-99), Poissy (France-Pro B, 1999-2001), CAB Madeira (Liga TMN, Potugal 2001-03), Oliveirense (Portugal-Liga TMN, 2003-05), CAB Madeira (Portugal-Liga TMN, 2005-07)
Filipe Da Silva started every single game of the qualifying round for Portugal. He’s a great ball handler, good shooter (inside and outside) and a nifty passer. He had a fantastic season domestically for CAB Madeira where he averaged 13.7 ppg and 5.0 apg and as a result was named National MVP. Da Silva, who grew up in France and has a French passport, will have plenty of European experience to draw on. He started his professional career in Paris at Maurienne and Poissy. After moving back to Portugal with CAB Madeira, he played in competitions such as the EuroCup and EuroCup Challenge. Unfazed by pressure, Da Silva will certainly be one of the most important players for coach Melnychuk. With his loads of experience, he surely will not wilt under the bright lights of EuroBasket.
