Career: Chomutov (Czech Republic-NBL, 2003-04), Decin (Czech Republic-NBL, 2004-07)
Jakub Houska is a talented center on the rise. Four years ago, he was playing for Chomutov, in the second division but in 2004 he proved too good to remain at his beloved club and decided to move to Decin, a team from the elite league. It didn’t take long for him to become one of the leaders of a team full of young guns. His play and hard work in practice, in front of the National Team’s assistant coach Pavel Budinsky, earned him an invitation to play for his country. He played in six games when the Czech Republic battled for a bid to EuroBasket 2007. Houska, whose hobbies include working on his personal web sites, was awarded the Fair Play Prize by the Czech Olympic Committee for catching thieves who robbed a 90-year-old woman.
