No more just the youngest son of former European basketball star Valdis Valters, Kristaps is going to EuroBasket as one of the best point guards in the ACB league and already an old-timer for the Latvian national team. Regarded as one of the biggest prospect in the country from an early age, Kristaps became a national team back up point guard as a young player. However Valters had some injury trouble and struggled to fulfill his potential at the highest international level. The biggest disaster took place in 2007 when a spot at the EuroBasket in Spain was replaced by emergency ankle surgery. But last season in Fuenlabdara was a very successful one for Kristaps. Very quick and dangerous from three-point line he has become more tactically clever and solid on defense and offense.
