Sandis Valters is a very dangerous three-point shooter with good defensive skills and a great fighting spirit. In the first part of his career Sandis spent time in his father Valdis Valters coaching club teams because Valters Sr. knew how to utilize his son's talent to the maximum. However after a short escapade in Germany and Ukraine, Valters came back to Latvia and became a leader at ASK Riga team for few years. Valters left Riga just due to financial reasons at end of the 2009 season. For national team Sandis had some impressive performances like 28 points (including six three-pointers) against Spain at EuroBasket 2005.
