Belgium outscored hosts Ukraine 21-2 over the final eight and a half minutes en route to a decisive 70-45 Group C triumph in the first additional qualifying round game for EuroBasket 2007.
The Belgians were in a dogfight with Ukraine, a team that played in the last EuroBasket, with seven minutes remaining.
With the visitors in front at 49-43, Real Madrid star Axel Hervelle, who finished with 18 points, buried a jump shot to spark the decisive run that left the home side's fans stunned.
Christophe Beghin had 19 points to lead the Belgians, who won just one of five qualifying games last summer on their way to a last place finish in group play against Russia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Ukraine were led by Artem Butskyy's 13 points.
Oleksiy Pecherov, the country's big center who is embarking on an NBA career with the Washington Wizards this year, did not play on Wednesday.
