15.08.2007
Ukraine claimed their first victory of the additional qualifying round for EuroBasket 2007 with a 74-64 win over Denmark.

Ukraine, who saw coach Vitaliy Lebedintsev quit in the wake of last week`s 70-45 capitulation to Belgium to be replaced by his assistant Valentin Berestnev, recovered to record their first triumph in Group C.

Oleksandr Kolchenko scored a game-high 17 points, including eight in the third quarter which Ukraine won 27-21.

Forward Artur Drozdov and center Serhiy Lishchuk each scored 14 points for the hosts, with eight and 11 rebounds, respectively, as Ukraine dominated the boards.

Thomas Soltau replied with 12 points and nine rebounds for Denmark.

Ukraine accelerated to a seven-point lead after the first 10 minutes, before Denmark hit back to win the second period 16-10 to go one-point behind at half-time.

But a second-half resurgence saw Ukraine win by a 10-point margin.
