He is a blond-haired German big man who has the ability to shoot from the outside as well as beat defenders in the post with some fine moves, which he has developed over the past couple seasons. No, he is not Dirk Nowitzki. But he is Jan-Hendrik Jagla and the 28-year-old power forward-center will be called upon to become a real leader with Dirk Nowitzki as well as some five other members of Germany's 2008 Olympic side not appearing at 2009 EuroBasket in Poland. German National Team Coach Dirk Bauermann will be calling on Jagla to pick up his game in all facets as he will be one of the main offensive forces with Nowitzki out. Jagla has now had the past three summers to watch first hand Nowitzki on and off the court while the past summer - and two competitions - playing alongside Chris Kaman as well. That alone will help Jagla bring his game to the next level - something definitely needed for a German side which will be very young and inexperienced and will be looking to Jagla for leadership. |
