Hungary broke a tie game open by going on an 11-2 run to start the third quarter and went on to defeat Belgium 75-59.
The victory allowed Hungary to improve their record to 2-4 in EuroBasket Qualifying Round play, while Belgium dropped to 1-5.
Both teams will have to earn a berth to EuroBasket 2007 through the Additional Qualifying Round.
With the game tied at 34 to start the second half, Robert Gulyas hit a jumper to start the 11-2 spurt.
Balazs Simon hit a three-pointer and two free throws, Gulyas would add another field goal and Istvan Nemeth hit a pair of free throws as Hungary took a 43-34 lead midway through the third.
Zoltan Horvath's jumper just before the third quarter buzzer put the Hungarians up 55-42.
Belgium was able to get to within 10 midway through the final quarter, but Hungary responded with a 9-3 run to put the game out of reach.
Nemeth’s tap-in with 1:24 to go before the final buzzer put Hungary firmly in control, 68-52, and the Hungarians made four consecutive free throws in the final minute to secure the win.
Belgium’s Ilunga Mbenga led all scorers with 24 points.
