All eyes are set on Yotam Halperin to be the leader of one of the best generations of Israeli basketball. He was the go-to-guy in every youth national team he played for, and his best achievement was the silver medal in the 2004 U20 European Champion Men, where he played the whole final round on one foot due to an ankle injury, but still shined. After winning back-to-back Euroleague titles with Maccabi as a back up, he went to a greenhouse of prospects in Olimpija Ljubljana where he had a break through season. Coming back to Maccabi he was already a starter on the team that made the Euroleague finals in 2008, enough to win a spot on the All-Euroleague second team, which led to a multi-year big money deal with the giants from Piraeus - Olympiacos. Halperin is the type of player who can score 25-30 points but still prefers to share the ball and get his team-mates involved. This could be a great asset for Israel as Halperin will draw most of the attention, but at the end of the day he's the one who will need to deliver.
