Even at the age of 16 when he first burst onto the main stage as a young, raw talent it was obvious that Ersan Ilyasova could be headed for great things. But two injuries to his right ankle created some worry and though he may have recovered physically, the mental scars of the injuries still haunt him as he is intimidated by physical play and avoids risky contact. His first stint in the NBA didn't do him much good either. But two years with Barcelona seems to have done wonders for him. It seems like ACB is rehabilitating Turkish players at a great rate, and last year Ilyasova showed his tremendous all-around game with the Catalan club. He can basically do-it-all, and has more or less every basketball skill at his disposal though passing may be his only weakness. Despite his rather lean figure he is a demon on the boards. A rare breed Ilyasova is the difference maker for this Turkish team. |
