Can he really be considered as a former NBA player ? Nikita Morgunov did sign a contract with Portland Trailblazers in January 1999. But he never actually played a single game for the NBA franchise spending all his time on the injured list before being waived... Still, the interest of the Blazers shows what kind of talent Morgunov is. Tall and strong, this center is blessed with a deadly outside shot that make him very difficult to guard. This year he showed this complete arsenal in the FIBA Europe Cup where his team reached the Final Four as he averaged 14.3 points and 9.1 rebounds... Morgunov is back with the national team after a two year absence and will try to bring a winning attitude to the squad as he has already won one EuroBasket and one World championship medal with Russia.
