The true star of the national team. At only 19 years old, Andrei Kirilenko was already playing a major role with Russia at the Olympic Games in Sydney. He has not looked back since then and despite the fact that Russia has not enjoyed great success, AK47 was a true leader as his production in EuroBasket 2003 showed : second leading scorer, fifth in rebounding, first in steals and in blocked shots… A product of St. Petersburg basketball school, Kirilenko was the youngest player ever to play a game in the Superleague at 15. He dominated Europe in youth competition gaining several MVP awards… After being drafted with the 24th pick in the 1999 NBA draft he polished his game for two years with CSKA Moscow before moving to Utah where he was selected to the 2004 NBA All-Star Game. |
